Ashton Old Baths comes to life with creative exhibition

Creative Studies students from Clarendon Sixth Form College showcase their work with exhibition at well known local landmark.

The ‘Experiment: Create’ art show, which took place on Wednesday 11th February, showcased students’ employability, entrepreneurial and networking skills. Students took over Ashton Old Baths with a vibrant display of their creative work, aimed at attracting the interest of employers and businesses based at the innovation centre.

Ashton Old Baths was transformed into an innovation centre in 2017. A wide range of businesses are based there, with residents working across IT, technology, design, media and the wider creative industries.

Students’ work from a wide range of creative disciplines was on display, including art and design, fashion, graphic design, photography, games, animation and media, highlighting the breadth of talent within the department.

James Shenton, head of creative studies at Clarendon Sixth Form College, said: “Experiment: Create is a fantastic opportunity for our students to experience exhibiting their work in a professional, public setting. Many careers in the creative industries are freelance or self-employed, so it’s vital that students develop the confidence to present themselves, communicate their ideas and engage with real audiences. The exhibition gives them a valuable insight into how creative work is shared, promoted and valued beyond the classroom, while building the professional behaviours and ambition they’ll need for their future careers.”
