Students inspired by drama school workshop
21 November 2016
Performing Arts students at Clarendon Sixth Form College have been inspired by a visit from one of the best drama schools in the country, Arts Educational Schools and one of their acting teachers, Yusuf Khamisa.
Arts Ed is a London based musical theatre, drama and acting school which offers students from 11 years old the opportunity to gain a wide range of skills in the performance industry and has alumni that includes; Julie Andrews, Darcey Bussell and Martin Clunes.
Yusuf delivered a workshop for the students on drama auditions and techniques for the first half of the day where he showed them how to successfully impress a panel of judges and what the Arts Ed team are looking for in an actor.
For the second half of the day, Yusuf talked to the students about what Arts Ed can offer students, what sort of roles a student could go into after leaving the school and also what they need to do to make sure they get the most out of the industry.
Yusuf said: “It was a pleasure to come and see the students and talk to them about the opportunities that they have right in front of them. I hope that the workshop will inspire them to become the next big star in the industry or even join Arts Educational Schools as a student in the future.”
Richard Goodwin, Curriculum Leader for Performing Arts at Clarendon Sixth Form College said: “Yusuf is one of my former students, so to see him come back and talk to my current students is fantastic. I hope that they feel like they have the confidence and skills to go out into the world and make a name for themselves after these workshops.”
