‘Futures’ Programme provides pathway to success for A-level students
30 September 2025
Clarendon Sixth Form College launches its new ‘Futures Programme’ to help students achieve their full potential and develop the skills needed for a successful career.
The programme, which was launched during the college’s most recent Open Event, includes four pillars of support: Tutorials focusing on wellbeing and academic progress, A-level mindset to develop vision and an attitude for success, enrichment opportunities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award and ‘Futures Plus’.
‘Futures Plus’ will provide tailored support to high achievers who aspire to study competitive subjects such as medicine, veterinary science and dentistry at Russell Group universities, to give them the highest possible chance of success.
One example of the programme’s success is Adam Manfred, a former A-level student at the college, who studied on the STEM (science, technology, engineering and Maths) Futures pathway, who has now progressed on to studying a degree in maths at the University of Warwick.
Others include Imogen Lomax, who is studying sociology and criminology at the University of Liverpool and Oliver Chaisty who is now studying computer science at the University of Exeter.
Jackie Moores, principal at Clarendon Sixth Form College and Tameside College, said: “"Every A-level student at the college has access to a tailored programme of support through the Futures programme. It’s designed to help them succeed not only in their studies but also in preparing for the next step, whether that’s university or a future career. We want all our students to feel confident and ready for what comes next.”
Ruth James, head of A-levels at Clarendon Sixth Form College, said: “The Futures programme provides our students with outstanding support both inside and outside the classroom. Whether that’s through enrichment activities, mentoring, or the tailored Futures Plus pathway, we ensure each has the right guidance to reach their full potential and get the most out of their time with the college. Seeing our students progress to top universities across the country is a real testament to its impact."
Membership of the Futures Plus and Futures programme, is discussed with students at every stage of transition from school to sixth form, to assess their individual needs and requirements.
