Course content & format

This one year, full time course is housed within excellent facilities at Clarendon Sixth Form College. This course opens up your creative potential ready for your next steps at a higher level or in a different direction.

This course is ideal for students who don’t have a great deal of art and design experience and wish to develop their practical skills and knowledge further. Alternatively, this is a course for students who require a portfolio of work in order to progress onto one of our Level 3 Advanced courses. The course will enable you to develop your drawing, painting and making skills through a series of art and design activities. You will be introduced to a range of specialist areas such as Graphics, Fine Art, Textiles, Fashion, Photography, Print-making and 3D work. In addition, all students are expected to attend GCSE classes in Maths and/or English (if required), tutorial and take part in work experience opportunities.

Your unique experience

Not only is this a course with fantastic support for all individual learners but we also encourage students to explore many opportunities in enrichment and work experience. We consistently celebrate 100% of our learners passing with high grades on this course, working alongside students studying at Level 3 in specialist creative vocational facilities means aspirations and motivation to succeed is extremely high. You will be involved in the department’s Creative Jam, here you will work on projects in collaboration with learners from different subject areas and at higher levels. This experience will help you to develop as a well-equipped creative individual, with a cross section of skills to give you strengths in the wider area of the Creative, Digital & Performing Arts.

In our learner survey over the last 2 years, 100% of learners have said the teaching and resources are good, that they are kept interested in the subject and that have made good progress.
