Dance students on stage with the professionals

Prestigious dance company selects Clarendon Sixth Form College students to take part in performance.

Charlotte Spencer, a former Wright Robinson student and Anthony Hopper, a former Copley Academy student were selected by the Tangled Dance Company to perform in their dance theatre piece ‘The Curious Curiosity Shop’.

Tangled Dance Company is a Manchester based group which aims to bring contemporary dance to those who may not have seen it before and aims to engage young people in the arts.

The performance, which focuses on a magical ‘curiosity shop’ which comes back to life, is being performed at Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and includes other students from Chameleon Youth Dance Company and Altringham Grammar School.

Working with the company will provide vital first hand experience to the students and help them secure future job roles.

Anthony and Charlotte, who are both second year dance students at Clarendon Sixth Form College, were selected by the company after impressing staff during a work experience placement earlier in the year.

Michelle Forrest, performing arts teacher at Clarendon Sixth Form College, said: “I am incredibly proud of Anthony and Charlotte’s dedication, talent and passion. Their professional approach demonstrates their ambition to succeed in the industry and I really look forward to seeing them achieve great things in the future.”
